GSO returns to the River Run Stage in a delightful program which includes Sarasate’s charming Carmen Fantasy, Wijeratne’s high-energy Polyphonic Lively and Dvorak’s poetic Symphony no.8, which celebrates the sheer joy of being alive in a world of natural wonders.

 

Brahms at the Basilica

Sunday April 2, 2023, 3pm- Basilica of Our Lady

Conductor, William Rowson

Celebrate the arrival of spring with Brahms’ cheerful Symphony No. 2 in D major, nicknamed “Pastoral”, in obvious reference to Beethoven’s symphony of the same name.  We will open the program with Wijeratne’s charming ‘Letter from the After-life’ based on quotes from Schubert’s Death & the Maiden string quartet.

GSO welcomes final Artistic Director Candidate, Michael Hall, to the podium, in a beautiful programme of Debussy, Coleman, Bizet and John Williams. Also on the playlist is Tchaikovsky’s breath-taking Romeo-Juliet and Bernstein’s vibrant West Side Story. A true celebration of friendship, connection, and love.

2023 Re-opening Concert

We are thrilled to announce that Guelph Symphony will welcome Guest Conductor, Adam Johnson, Soloists Jonathan Crow, violin and Joe Carere, organ in a celebratory concert at the Basilica of Our Lady, on May 1st !

Beethoven: Egmont Overture
Jesse Montgomery: Strum 
Beethoven: Romance in F 
Saint Saens: Organ Symphony no 3 , Finale 

(approximately one hour, no intermission)
